In this video, Mike explains how to create your own wall of sheer curtains. This is great if you want to cover a large expanse of wall, windows and/or sliding doors with the one curtain for a seamless appearance. He shows you how to break them down into sections and explains how to order them on the website.
Measure your width
You can have a wall of curtains with either a ceiling mount or a wall mount track. For ceiling mount, measure along the ceiling in between the cornices. Or to have a tighter fit to the wall where there are large decorative cornices, choose a wall mount and measure directly below the cornice along the wall from one end to the other. Always allow 5-10mm clearance on either side just in case. Our tracks go up to 20mtrs wide so you can easily achieve a wall of curtains in any space.
- Once you have decided where you would like to position your curtain track and your curtains measure the overall width of both, this will be the hard width across your wall or ceiling.
- Note your overall measurement to the exact mm.
- Next using a grey lead pencil, mark the spot on your wall or ceiling over where you want the split/break in your curtains to be, this will become your panel width (You can have up to 10 individual panels). iSeekBlinds recommends adding an additional 100m overlap for each panel.
- Now starting from left to right, measure what each individual panel width will be.
- Note your measurement to the exact mm for each individual panel, note these as panel 1, panel 2 etc.
- Try not to go any wider than 6,000mm for each individual panel as they will become too heavy to operate.
- The total measurement for each individual panel must add up to the total overall fabric width as noted in step 1.
- Don’t allow for an extra in fullness, we will do this for you. Your curtains will come with an approx. 200% fullness.
- Our hand-drawn curtains are supplied as free floating so you can choose to stack them on either side or open them at each individual panel. Always keep in mid that your fabric will stack will be 1/3 of the panel width so make sure you have enough room for each panel stack.
Measure your drop
Ensure you have installed your floor coverings or make allowances for them when measuring your drop. Also check to see that your chosen fabric will suit your drop as some of our fabrics have shorter drops than others. Check Fabric details for more info.
Measure the drop from the top of where the brackets will be placed (top of the track or ceiling) to the floor.
Note your measurement to the exact mm.
The drop that you order is the standard drop, including the height of the track.
If you want a different drop effect, you can choose this when you design and order your blind, iSeekBlinds will then make the necessary adjustments for this effect.
