Plantation shutters aren’t just beautiful, they’re also a tried and tested way of keeping out the heat. Additionally, at colder times of year, they’re also excellent for keeping heat in.
Plantation shutters will not totally black out a room (they are not suitable, for example, for setting up a darkroom in which to do photography). However, plantation shutters are an excellent way of blocking lots of unwanted light from a room. When used together with other curtains or blinds, a full blackout can be achieved.
If you take care of them and they aren’t subjected to undue harm, quality plantation shutters will last for generations. As far as shutters for windows go, they’ve proven to be a particularly durable design.
