In this video, Mike explains how to create your own wall of sheer curtains. This is great if you want to cover a large expanse of wall, windows and/or sliding doors with the one curtain for a seamless appearance. He shows you how to break them down into sections and explains how to order them on the website. Â
You can have a wall of curtains with either a ceiling mount or a wall mount track. For ceiling mount, measure along the ceiling in between the cornices. Or to have a tighter fit to the wall where there are large decorative cornices, choose a wall mount and measure directly below the cornice along the wall from one end to the other. Always allow 5-10mm clearance on either side just in case. Our tracks go up to 20mtrs wide so you can easily achieve a wall of curtains in any space.
Once you have decided where you would like to position your curtain track and your curtains measure the overall width of both, this will be the hard width across your wall or ceiling.
Note your overall measurement to the exact mm.
Next using a grey lead pencil, mark the spot on your wall or ceiling over where you want the split/break in your curtains to be, this will become your panel width (You can have up to 10 individual panels). iSeekBlinds recommends adding an additional 100m overlap for each panel.
Now starting from left to right, measure what each individual panel width will be.
Note your measurement to the exact mm for each individual panel, note these as panel 1, panel 2 etc.
Try not to go any wider than 6,000mm for each individual panel as they will become too heavy to operate.
The total measurement for each individual panel must add up to the total overall fabric width as noted in step 1.
Don’t allow for an extra in fullness, we will do this for you. Your curtains will come with an approx. 200% fullness.
Our hand-drawn curtains are supplied as free floating so you can choose to stack them on either side or open them at each individual panel. Always keep in mid that your fabric will stack will be 1/3 of the panel width so make sure you have enough room for each panel stack.
Measure your drop
Ensure you have installed your floor coverings or make allowances for them when measuring your drop. Also check to see that your chosen fabric will suit your drop as some of our fabrics have shorter drops than others. Check Fabric details for more info.
Measure the drop from the top of where the brackets will be placed (top of the track or ceiling) to the floor.
Note your measurement to the exact mm.
The drop that you order is the standard drop, including the height of the track.
If you want a different drop effect, you can choose this when you design and order your blind, iSeekBlinds will then make the necessary adjustments for this effect.
Width (mm) | Drop (mm) |
---|---|
Minimum width: 600mm |
Minimum drop: 1,000mm |
Maximum width: 20,000mm (hand drawn) 7,500mm (motorised) |
Maximum drop: 2,750mm - 6,000* |
Number of panels - hand drawn: Our hand-drawn curtains are available up to 10,000mm (10mtrs) in length and can be split into 4 individual panels, as you measure each window, take note of how many panels you want for each curtain and what each of their measurements is. They can all be of equal width or you can specify a unique width for each panel
Curtain stack - motorised: With motorised tracks, you can choose from either; a left-hand stack, right-hand stack or centre opening. This will also be the default side that your motor will be installed. If you choose centre opening you can choose for the motor to be installed on the left or right side. When you design and order your curtains you can make this selection, don’t make any alterations to your measurements, iSeekBlinds will do this for you
Wand size (hand drawn):Â You can fit a wand to any or all of your desired panels. Wands are available in 4 sizes and are attached at the top of your track and measured from the track down. Wand Sizes: 750mm, 1000mm, 1250mm, 1500mm
Track: Our designer curtain tracks are suitable for both ceiling & wall mount installation. Featuring a square-shaped design, this track is neat, compact and discreet and available in white and black.   NB: For tracks greater than 3,600mm these will be made in two parts that join together, this will not affect the integrity or strength of the track.
Wall mount bracket types: Choose a standard bracket when you have no obstructions, these adjustable brackets can be extended from 20mm – 50mm in length. If you are hanging your curtain over an outside mounted roller blind or have any obstructions to consider, then our extension brackets will be better suited. These brackets adjust from 60mm– 100mm in length. Or our extra extension brackets may be required and these adjust from 85mm - 130mm.Â
Drop effect:Â When you measure your curtains, note the standard measurement to the floor, when you design and order your curtains you can choose your drop effect to either be off the floor which will be approx. 10mm shorter or puddled which will be approx. 40mm longer.
